Abstract

The electrochemical behavior of ferrocene in polyethylene oxide‐400 was studied by cyclic voltammetry and large potential step chronoamperometry. Qualitative features and quantitative analyses of the experimental results in this large resistance polymeric solvents are presented. Temperature effects were described and from these an activation energy of ca.8 kcal/mol for the diffusion coefficient of ferrocene in polyethylene oxide‐400 was obtained. The effects of the supporting electrolytes on the diffusion coefficient and on the conductivity and viscosity of the polymeric solvent system are also described.
