Abstract

Electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) of CoFe2O4 (CFO) nanoparticles is reported in this work. CFO nanoparticles are synthesized by sol–gel method. As synthesized CFO powder is presintered at 800 °C for two hours in muffle furnace. Films of the sintered powder are prepared by using doctor blade technique. These films are used to fabricate electrode for electrocatalytic study and it show excellent OER performance. Powder X-ray diffraction pattern of synthesized material reveals the polycrystalline nature of sample and the calculated lattice constant 8.29 Å. Morphological properties are explored by the scanning electron microscope (SEM) which shows grain size from 65 nm to 150 nm. Linear swap voltammetry (LSV) is conducted to find out electrocatalytic activity of sample in 1 M KOH solution, shows 234 mV overpotential at10 mAcm−2, which is significantly superior to reported values.
