Abstract

This little book may do to the electrocardiographic publishing industry what well-designed small foreign cars did to the dinosaurs of Detroit. The large ones will still be sought for their details and ornate elaboration, but smaller versions of the mammoths have been demanded and improved for people who want useful, practical conveyances. The book is so small and flexible (paper-covered) that it can fit comfortably into a coat pocket, yet its contents are enormously rich and full. Within its compact pages the author has managed to cover the main points of electrocardiography. Anatomic and significant psychological considerations are noted, tables of normal values listed, special leads mentioned, and an excellent, adequately comprehensive selection of abnormal states described and illustrated. The approach is no-nonsense, logical, crisp, clear, clinical, and pragmatic—and the writing contains prose to match the approach. Not a sentence, hardly a word is wasted, yet the style is always
