Abstract

We investigate the distribution of electric potential in a circular cylinder containing a circular disk whose center is not on that of the cylinder. By satisfying the boundary conditions on the disk and the surface of the cylinder, an integral equation is obtained for the solution of the problem. It is shown that this integral equation reduces to the known Fredholm integral equation of the second kind when the disk is coaxial with the cylinder.
