Abstract

This paper examines the in-plane and c axis electrical resistivities, ρ a and ρ c , from 4.2 to 295K for first stage M x Al 2 Cl 8 GICs where M=Cu, Cd or Pd. It is found that dp/dT>0 for all cases in both directions. Particularly high values of ρ c and anisotropy (ρ c /ρ a ) are found for the Pd containing materials, exceeding 5 Ω.cm and 10 6 at 4.2K respectively. The magnetic ordering observed elsewhere in the Cu-containing materials does not appear to influence the transport in either direction
