Abstract

The electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance were measured along the c-axis of stage-6 FeCl 3 graphite intercalation compound. The standard four-probe d.c. method was used for the measurements. The resistivity was measured in the temperature range from 293 to 12 K. The temperature dependence of resistivity was analyzed in terms of a variable range hopping conduction in parallel with band conduction. The transverse and longitudinal magnetoresistances were measured in a low magnetic field at 293, 77 and 12 K. The average value of the mobility was estimated from the transverse magnetoresistance measurements and was found to be 0.078, 0.224 and 0.337 m 2 V −1 s −1 at 293, 77 and 12 K, respectively.
