Abstract

The DC electric field-dependent properties of BaTiO3-based multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) with X7R specification were studied. The dependence of dielectric-temperature behavior on electric field showed that a field-induced phase transition took place under high DC field, which was characterized by the enhanced Curie temperature and the decreased dielectric constant. The ferroelectric measurements showed the field-dependent hysteresis behavior, which was considered to be originated from the field induced transition and the injected charge effects. The current-voltage measurement for MLCCs revealed that a transition from an Ohmic linear dependence to a nonlinear behavior, corresponding to the space charge limited conduction mechanism.
