Abstract

This work proposes a sensitivity analysis to study correlations between certain design constraints applicable to high-voltage power capacitor banks. Several components of a bank are represented constituting a non-trivial geometry. Electric field intensity is computed in the entire the domain. Particularly, it is analyzed the effects from either the absence or the presence of corona rings on the bushings. Effects due to the vertical positioning of a corona ring are also illustrated. Results indicate (i) the presence of corona ring contributes to the increase in electric field uniformity in the surrounding air and (ii) bushings surface performance benefit from proper positioning of the corona ring. In this context, this work contributes to the dimensioning of bushings applicable to power capacitors.
