Abstract

Interaction between straight disclinations and disclination loops is studied in detail. In most of the cases, defects repel or attract or there is no interaction between the two whatever their separation may be. However, there is one relative orientation for which the defects repel or attract depending on the separation between the two. In all the cases interaction forces are either finite or zero when the defects are brought close together. Numerical results are also given.
