Abstract

Electrical properties of the Fe2O3 doped PMnS-PZN-PZT piezoelectric ceramics were investigated in a wide electric field range. The complete set of elastic, dielectric and piezoelectric constants were obtained at low field levels, and the Rayleigh relation was found to describe the nonlinear dielectric behavior at high field levels. It was suggested that proper phase structure enhances the intrinsic dielectric and piezoelectric response, and doping with Fe2O3 reduces the extrinsic losses, which result in high piezoelectric properties and low dielectric loss. This work provides a basis to perform theoretical analysis and device design of piezoelectric ceramics.
