Abstract

Throughout the Andean region, a type of architectural structure, known as an orthogonal structure or “cell,” has been recorded, which is related to the Inca presence and has an interesting representation in the south sector of Collasuyu (northwestern Argentina). Since research on this type of structure includes few and superficial analyses, we propose an exploratory study of multiple analyses of microfossils and sediments from two sites – Corral Negro and Urbina – integrated with a GIS spatial study of 32 structures in 14 site samples to provide new information for a discussion of their functionality and participation in the landscapes of Collasuyu.
