Abstract
We perform an analysis of the consideration in the literature about health as determinant of economic growth. The existing contributions fall into three approaches. On the one hand, theoretical models of growth where health status is incorporated as key factor in the growth process. On the other hand, growth accounting models which consider the contribution of each production factor, among which includes health status, to changes in income. Finally, third approach is based on a la Barro regressions, which returns the rate of growth over wide range of variables, which include the health status.
