Abstract
This article aims to describe the most relevant aspects of accreditation applied to forensic laboratories and forensic inspection activities. It intends to clarify the use of concepts found in the definition of accreditation, as well as understanding the meaning of this tool in forensic laboratories and forensic inspection activities, identifying critical elements in their performance. Thus, the article explains how accreditation is implemented in forensic laboratories and in forensic inspection activities in Mexico. Finally, it presents some topics regarding evident improvements in the expert activity and some analytic data to assess those advances.
