Abstract

The Pickelhaube from the German word Pickel (spike: sharp point of certain objects) and Haube (cap, helmet and in general garment the covers the head) is the mane given to a helmet created by the Prussian army in the first half of the 19th century. Since its appearance until more than a century later, it has been used by various armies around the world, such as German, Russian, United Kingdom, Sweden, Portugal and Norway among others. In the Latin American case we have Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and especially in Peru, which was the first country in Latin America to incorporate the Pickelhaube as part of the Army uniform and equipment. The Peruvian Pickelhaube history is also and intent to rescue not only the history of the Peruvian Army but also to project in time the value and importance of the permanent connections of Peruvian history with the Western world, with its history, its values and challenges.
