Abstract
¿Cuáles son los problemas del Perú a fines del siglo XIX? ¿Cómo resolverlos? ¿Cuáles son las ideas de patria y de nación? ¿Cómo enfrentar las desigualdades y las relaciones de dominación y discriminación racial, de género y clase que afectan sobre todo a las mujeres y a la población «indígena»? Son algunas de las interrogantes que intento responder explorando textos poco conocidos de Clorinda Matto de Turner, me refiero a sus artículos periodísticos, sus tradiciones y leyendas, sus reflexiones sobre diversos acontecimientos históricos y sociales ocurridos en el Perú y América Latina, sin dejar de lado, aunque de modo referencial sus conocidas novelas.
