Abstract

Maria Norberta Amorim, a pioneer in Historical Demography in Portugal, since the 1970s developed and systematically applied the parish reconstruction method. Currently, her contribution is materialized in the National Genealogical Repository of Portugal (RGN), based in Casa de Sarmento (Guimarães). It is a central database, of free and open access, whose use allows systematize the information from parish registers between the 16th and 18th centuries.
