Abstract
The Latin American Christology of liberation depends on and tunes in with the Christological ideas of the Second Latin American Episcopal Conference. This pa- per is the result of a study on texts of different nature: a speech by Paul VI at the opening of the conference, a doctoral thesis, papers by theologians that explicitly refer to the Christological texts from Medellín and, fnally, the main emphases of the Christology of liberation developed in Latin America since then. At the end of this study, a deep continuity between this Christology and the concept of a liberating Christ of the poor from Medellín is verifed.
