Abstract

The system of chemokines and their receptors plays a significant role in total embriogenesis, regulates also the processes of innate and adaptive immunity, which leads to the development of proper immune defence. The knowledge of relative and absolute values of particular lymphocyte lineages in healthy population is essential to analyze results and to evaluate observed changes in immune system. AimThe current study aimed at thorough evaluation of relative and absolute values of surface antigens on lymphoid T cells, which are receptors for selected chemokines, in peripheral blood of healthy children using multicolour flow cytometry. The values of different lymphocyte subsets were also evaluated with regard to age and gender. ResultsThe results presented in the manuscript might serve as reference to assess the results of patients with immunological abnormalities in the course of various disorders. To our knowledge, this is the first Polish publication evaluating in such detail the composition of subsets of T cells, with receptors for selected chemokines in peripheral blood in children.
