Abstract

We solve the Schwinger model on the circle in the canonical Hamiltonian formalism without bosonizing. Working in the ${A}_{0}=0$ gauge, we explicitly construct the exact, physical states of the theory in the fermionic Fock space using the Schr\"odinger-picture representation for the gauge field degrees of freedom. The $\ensuremath{\Theta}$ vacuum is obtained naturally and its detailed structure is exhibited.
