Abstract

The development of effective trivalent chromium ions doped oxide phosphors with deep-red emission is a challenging but important work. Here, the novel garnet-structured phosphors ZnLu2Al4SiO12:Cr3+ (ZLASO:Cr3+) were created for the first time. Under 402 nm excitation, the prepared phosphors exhibited deep-red emission centered at 689 nm with great internal quantum efficiency of 65.4%. Meanwhile, thermal quenching behavior was investigated and the optimal ZLASO:2.5%Cr3+ performed high thermal stability (83.8%@423 K). The emission spectrum of ZLASO:Cr3+ exhibited excellent responsiveness to the absorption spectra required for plant growth. Consequently, the constructed ZLASO:Cr3+ red phosphors are expected to be used for the application of plant growth.
