Abstract

Methyl subsitituion is considered as a simple and effetive method to finely tune the photophysical properties of thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) emitters. Herein, we develop two compounds to fully showcase the impact on methyl on TADF features. MeICP with methyl exhibits favorable quasi-equatorial geometry and shorter delayed lifetime, while ICP without methyl possesses higher radative decay and photoluminescent quantum yield. Consequently, ICP-based devices show higher external quantum efficiency of 20.6 % and relieved efficiency roll-off.
