Abstract

In the paper, an iterative hybrid of thin dielectric sheet (TDS) approximation method and physical optics (PO) is introduced for analyzing electromagnetic scattering problems of large-scale PEC target partially coated by thin dielectric materials. The iterative scheme keeps the implementary independence between TDS and PO. Furthermore, the multilevel fast multipole algorithm and the adaptive cross approximation method are adopted to enhance the efficiency for solving the problem in TDS region, and accelerate the computation of interaction between TDS and PO regions, respectively. Some numerical results are exhibited, which elucidates that the TDS-PO hybrid method can efficiently reduce the number of unknowns and the computational complexity. In addition, it also can obtain a better accuracy than PO.
