Abstract

In this paper, we develop a congestion control algorithm (Active Random Early Drop or ARED) designed to improve communication time delay and data packet loss rates, enforcing action synchronization in teleoperation system while managing congestion in gateway. ARED achieves fair queueing with a simple First-In-First-Out policy with active operating parameters. This design goal is achieved by the observation that bandwidth distribution is equivalent to buffer allocation under FIFO queueing. Simulations of a TCP/IP network are used to illustrate the performance of ARED gateways.
