Abstract

This paper investigates the sliding mode control (SMC) problem for discrete-time networked control systems (NCSs) subject to time delay and data packet loss. Firstly, a sliding surface is constructed and the sliding mode controller is developed for the considered NCSs, which is designed later based on the constant rate reaching law approach such that the state trajectory of the system can be driven onto the pre-designed sliding mode surface and maintain there for subsequent time. Next, the networked predictive control (NPC) scheme is introduced and proved to be feasible in the active compensation for the network-induced time delay and data packet loss. Finally, an example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed networked predictive SMC strategy for the considered NCSs.
