Abstract

We fabricated a diode side-pumped Nd:YAG laser by using a diffusive reflector. In the reflector, 3-fold narrow rectangular slits were made in order to transfer diode pump power directly into the diffusive cavity. In a linear short cavity, 190 W multimode output power was obtained with the optical efficiency of 43%. We investigated the characteristics of low mode operation with a linear dynamically stable resonator. 60 W CW TEM00 output power was obtained when the pump power was 300 W, which corresponds to the optical efficiency of 20%.
