Abstract

In the present work, with a unique eccentric rotor solid extruder, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene/natural graphite (UHMWPE/NG) oriented composites were fabricated by establishing a three-dimensional (3D) oriented segregated thermal conductive network at 120 °C, the temperature of the softening state of UHMWPE matrix. The as-prepared composites exhibited high thermal conductivity (6.76 W⋅m−1K−1) and low surface resistivity (0.152 Ω cm) at 29.4 vol% NG loading, making them possess the tremendous development potential and prospects for electronic packaging applications. The research provided an efficient and green as well as low-cost method for manufacturing high-performance thermal interface materials (TIMs).
