Abstract
A new method for reducing peak to average power ratio (PAR) in multicarrier systems is presented. The PAR is reduced by adding time domain signals to the data sequence that lay in a disjoint frequency space to the multicarrier data symbols. With this formulation, optimizing the time domain signal leads to a convex optimization problem that can be transformed into a linear program (LP). Solving the LP exactly leads to PAR reductions of 6-10 dB, but a simple gradient algorithm could achieve most of this reduction after a few iterations. These additive signals can be easily removed from the received signal without transmitter-receiver symbol handshake.
