Abstract
The efficiency of a huge space shield (HSS) is evaluated through temperature analysis and experiments. The analysis is divided into two categories. One is to evaluate long-term effect, which shown that the difference of the temperature between before and after shielded is 0.2°C. Another is to assess the target area effect, and the conclusion is that ten of the diameter of 1.4 km HSS could lead the temperature to be declined 0.09°C. Furthermore, an actual model in the laboratory is assembled, and the effect experiments were carried out. The results show that the temperature is decreased 0.33°C under long-term. Many factors could make the error between the experimental and theoretical results. However, the decrease can still show the effectiveness of the HSS. Thus, both the analysis and experiments indicate that the HSS could make a substantial effect on mitigating global warming in a certain degree with a relatively low cost.
