Abstract

This article contains general information about an automated system of managing steam boilers at the power plant fired by a mixture of power (fuel) gases with unstable characteristics. One of the features of this system is calculation and visualization of the indicator for evaluation of the performance of boilers efficiency with a team breakdown of outcomes. The methodology of steam boilers efficiency evaluation has been suggested. For the purposes of such evaluation, a relative indicator of blast furnace gas consumption has been introduced. It depends on the blast furnace gas pressure and calorific value as well as on the steam load as these regime parameters have significant impact on the boilers performance efficiency. The evaluation of efficiency is performed basing upon a comparison of the value of the amount of calorific energy coming into boilers with blast furnace gas during the reference period with a similar indicator for the reporting period. The example of evaluation using statistical data for operation of a steam boiler at the steel mill's power plant has been provided in accordance with the proposed methodology. This evaluation enables us to introduce competition between teams (of workers) into the operating process. This promotes a more efficient consumption of blast furnace gas which is a secondary energy resource.
