Abstract

Abstract One-hundred and fifty crossbred cow/calf pairs were randomly selected for the study. Two groups of 50 cow/calf pairs were provided Optimizer (20% Diazinon) ear tags for horn fly control. Tags were applied at one tag/cow. A third group of 50 cow/calf pairs served as an untreated control. Calves were weighed and cows were ear tagged 30 May and placed in their respective pastures. Horn fly counts were recorded weekly by counting both sides of a cow with a minimum of 15 cows counted during each observation.
