Abstract

Abstract Kryocide and boric acid dusts were evaluated in standard Ebeling choice boxes. Known quantities of dusts were brushed onto the floor panel of 1 chamber of each choice box. Dusts were applied with a dry dust-saturated camel hair brush at a rate of 0.5 g per treated choice box chamber. Controls were utilized in which no dust was applied to either chamber. The experiment was replicated 3 times. In all tests, food (Purina dog chow) and water were provided ad libitum in both choice box chambers. Populations of 50 adult make German cockroaches, Blattella germanica (L.), (Orlando Normal biotype) were introduced into the non-dusted chamber (randomly assigned). After 1 h orientation, the cork between chambers was removed and cockroaches were allowed access to the treated side. Mortality and distributions of cockroaches were recorded every 12 h for 216 h (9 days).
