Efficacy of enalapril maleate folic acid tablets in the treatment of H-type hypertension patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of enalapril maleate folic acid tablets in the treatment of patients with H-type hypertension complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 262 patients with H-type hypertension complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated in Jiaozhou People’s Hospital from March 2017 to February 2018 were selected. Patients were randomly divided into treatment group (131 cases) and control group (131 cases) according to random number table method. Patients in control group were given enalapril maleate tablets, and patients in treatment group were given enalapril maleate folic acid tablets. At 1 day before treatment and after 12 months of treatment, the systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), homocysteine (Hcy), C-reactive protein (CRP), fasting blood glucose (FBG), carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), and carotid plaque integral (Crouse integral) values were recorded and compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, DBP and SBP values of all patients were significantly lower than those before treatment (P all<0.05), the levels of Hcy and FBG in treatment group were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the level of FBG and Hcy in treatment group was lower than that of control group (P all<0.05). After treatment, the CRP level in all patients were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and CRP level in treatment group was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0.05). After treatment, Crouse score and IMT of all patients were significantly lower than those before treatment (P all<0.05), and the Crouse score and IMT in treatment group were lower than those in control group (P all<0.05). Conclusions Enalapril maleate folic acid tablet can reduce levels of plasma CRP, FBG and Hcy, relieve inflammation in patients with H-type hypertension combined with type 2 diabetes mellitus, so that it has a positive and great therapeutic effect on patients which is worthy of clinical application.
