Abstract
Vicharchika is mentioned in classical text of Ayurveda as one among k ushtha . All k ushthas have t ridoshaja origin hence vicharchika can be taken in same way. But some a charyas have mentioned different domi nancy in vicharchika i.e. k apha , p itta and vata - pitta p radhana . As per lakshanas , vicharchika can be correlated with eczema . Sharangadhara mention ed a rkapatra taila and Bhaishajya r athanavalli mentioned a ragvadadi kwath a in the treatment of vicharchika . E ffort is being made in present study to know the efficacy of a rkapatra taila and a ragvadadi kwatha. Patients were selected from OPD and IPD fulfill ing inclusion criteria and were divided into 2 groups, Group A and Group B with 20 patients in each group. Patients in group A were administered a ragvadadi kwath a 25 ml twice a day and arkapatra t aila for external application and were also kept on appropri ate p athya a hara and v ihara. Patients in Gr oup B kept as Control Group on p athya a hara and v ihara. Maximum improvement was found in 10 pati ents (50 %) in group A and 0 patients (0 %) in group B. Moderate improvement was in 6 patients (30 %) in group A and 4 patients (20 %) in group B. Mild improvement was in 4 patients (20 %) in group A and 7 (35 %) patients in group B. In group A 0 (0 %) and in group B 9 (45 %) patients were with no change . It wa s concluded that arkapatra taila and aragvadadi kwatha along with pathya ahara and vihara has a significant effect in the treatment of vicharchika.
