Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of anion air purifier therapy for allergic asthma in children, which provided a feasible method for clinical medicine treatment. Methods A total of 17 subjects [(10±3) years old (7-14 years), 11 males and 6 females] diagnosed with allergic asthma from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were selected and anion air purifiers placed in their bedrooms for 7 months.Before the intervention and each month, dust samples were collected to assess for allergen content.Additionally, asthma control test (ACT) and childhood asthma control test (C-ACT) were asked to fulill each month, telephone follow-up throughout the experiment. Results Der p1 and Der f1 had obviously different characteristics.The concentration decreased ultimately.Besides ACT and C-ACT scores were significantly higher before the air purifier′s intervention. Conclusions Anion air purifier can reduce HDM allergen concentration, which avoid contact of subjects and dust mite allergens, thereby improve clinical manifestation of patients with allergen asthma.
