Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of Xingnaojing injection combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy on carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and its influence on recovery time and liver and kidney function of patients. Methods A total of 106 patients with carbon monoxide poisoning admitted to the Emergency Department of Yuncheng Cental Hospital from September 2016 to October 2018 were randomly divided into control group and study group, with 53 cases in each group. The two groups were treated with conventional symptomatic treatment. Moreover, control group was given hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and study group was given Xingnaojing injection combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The clinical efficacy, recovery time, hospital stay, incidence of delayed encephalopathy, liver and kidney function indicators and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, in study group, the total effective rate of treatment was higher than that in control group (P<0.05), the recovery time and hospital stay were shorter than those in control group (P<0.05). The incidence of delayed encephalopathy was lower than that in control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of kidney function indexes (serum total protein, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase) and liver function indexes, including blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine] were significantly decreased in the two groups (P<0.05), and the decreases, except in BUN, were greater in study group (P<0.05). After treatment, the level of SOD in the two groups were significantly elevated (P<0.05), and the increase was greater in study group (P<0.05). Conclusions Xingnaojing injection combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy for carbon monoxide poisoning can significantly shorten the recovery time and protect the liver and kidney function, and it is worthy of clinical promotion.
