Abstract

1. These studies show that the readout error with a vibrating pointer is dependent on the operator, the position, and the state of the pointer. 2. Pointer vibrations of scale up to 0.2 division do not introduce an appreciable addition readout error. 3. Pointer vibrations with a scale of 0.3 division not only lead to an additional readout error of ±0.07 scale division but also increase the time required by 30%. 4. This method of examining readout error for a vibrating pointer can be used in examining various instruments used under conditions of vibration.
