Abstract
The indiscriminate use of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) causes harm to several systems such as reproductive, hepatic, skeletal muscle, endocrine, renal, cardiovascular and dermatological. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the effects on the morphology of the heart of sedentary rats and athletic rats using stanozolol. For this purpose, 40 male Wistar rats, 90 days old, were used, subdivided into four vehicle control groups (CV), control treated with stanozolol (CT), exercise vehicle (EV) and the exercise group treated with stanozolol (ET). Stanozolol was applied at a dosage of 20 mg/kg/week for 8 weeks intramuscularly, the training protocol consisted of swimming, five times a week, for nine consecutive weeks. Histological slides were prepared from the animals' left ventricle and analyzes were carried out under light microscopy. There were no histological changes in the morphology of the heart in sedentary animals and athletes, both using stanozolol.
