Abstract
八重山諸島西表島において，カンムリワシSpilornis cheela perplexusのロードセンサスを行い，出現個体数に対する時間帯や気象条件の影響を調べた．出現個体数は朝に最も多く，次いで夕に多かった．どちらの時間帯も，出現個体数は，風速に対して負の相関がみられたが，湿度および気温に関連は認められなかった．カンムリワシが止まり木で索餌する際の体の角度は，風速の増加に伴って有意に前傾姿勢になった．夜行性の両生類や爬虫類を主要な餌とするカンムリワシにとって，朝や夕はそれらの捕獲の可能性が高まるものと考えられる．一方，待ち伏せ採餌者である本種にとって，風はエネルギーの支出を生じさせるため，出現個体数に負の影響を与えるものと推察された．本種の個体数動態を把握するためのロードセンサスの結果を解析するうえで，時間や風速は考慮すべきであるといえる．
