Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effects of therapeutic communication on the hope level and the ability of self-management of patients with COPD. Methods A total of 113 patients with COPD were randomly assigned to intervention group (55 cases) and control group (58cases). All patients received the routing nursing of COPD. In addition the intervention group cases received the therapeutic communication intervention. The Herth hope index and the ability of self-management scale was used to investigate the level of their hope and the ability of self-management before being intervened and being intervened two months. Results After two months′ intervention, the hope level and the ability of self-management in the experimental group were higher than these of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The therapeutic communication intervention can improve the hope level and the ability of self-management of patients with COPD, so as to promote the patient′s mental health and quality of life.
