Abstract

The approach to magnetic saturation of amorphous ferromagnetic alloy ribbons with different initial thicknesses under chemical reduction is studied by using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The factor a in the law of the approach to saturation (M=Ms(1 -a/H-b/H2− …)+χ0H), which is considered as the reflection of heterogeneity, varies drastically owing to the chemical reduction of the ribbon thickness, suggesting that the internal structure influences the approach to saturation. A new model of the defect distribution in amorphous ribbon is introduced in order to compare the different attributions of the same defects in the low and high fields.
