Abstract

New differential cross section and analyzing-power data for 800-MeV p/sub pol/ + /sup 12/C, /sup 116,124/Sn inelastic scattering to the first 2/sup +/ states are presented. A distorted-wave Born-approximation analysis which utilizes collective form factors and includes deformation of the spin-orbit potential is shown to provide a reasonable description of the analyzing-power data.
