Abstract

We have calculated spectra of impurity Ar ions including contribution from the satellite lines in high density hydrogen plasmas. The doubly excited states are assumed to be in Local-Thermal-Equilibrium (LTE) with respect to the singly excited ions in the next ionization stage. The disappearance of bound states due to pressure ionization is found to be very important in determining the populations of the doubly excited states. The emission lines of H-like and He-like Ar ions are broadened and enhanced by the unresolved satellite lines from the states with a spectator electron with principal quantum number n =3∼6 for ion densities higher than 10 23 cm -3 and electron temperature in the range of 0.5∼1.0 keV.
