Abstract
Soil is considered as a complex material produced by weathering of the solid rock. The strength of soil is a key design parameter in foundation design. The capacity of the foundation to support footing load is given by the soil’s bearing capacity, which is a function of its strength parameters. Bearing capacity is the maximum pressure that the soil can support at foundation level without failure. It is the crucial parameter for foundation design. In this paper, the bearing capacity of soil foundation is numerically calculated by changing of shear strength parameters of soil foundation (angle of internal friction of soil and cohesion) and depth of square foundation.
