Abstract

Transport properties as: normal state resistance, transition temperature and critical current density in weak applied field, of ceramic YBa2Cu3Oy samples, sintered under different conditions, have been investigated. Sintering temperatures ranging from 900°C to 970°C have been used. For each temperature the sintering time has been determined by monitoring the sample resistance in situ during the process. The slope of the R vs T dependence has a maximum value for a sintering temperature between 920°C and 930°C. Although the samples sintered at 900°C have a lower density, they exhibit the highest current density.
