Abstract

Abstract In this research, natural rubber latex foam embedded with and without silver nanoparticles were produced. Morphology, physical, and antibacterial properties were studied. The result from TEM confirmed that particle sizes of silver colloid are not more than 100 nm. Moreover, the result from SEM and EDS also showed that silver particles presented and well distributed throughout natural rubber latex foam. The physical properties in term of density and compression set were achieved at desired values and the result of antibacterial property revealed that natural rubber latex foam treated with silver nanoparticles 0.2 phr increased the ability to inhibit bacterial growth of 48.3 % against E. coli and 25 % against S. aureus compared to the foam without treating with silver.
