Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of prunella vulgaris(PV)alone or combined with chemotherapeutic agents on proliferation of human lymphoma cell line Raji.Methods The growth inhibition rate of Raji cells treated with PV combined with TAX,DDP and VCR,were examined by MTT assay respectively.The expression of apoptosis related protein survivin,caspase-3 was measured by immunocytochemistry.Results ①PV could suppress the proliferation of Raji cells in a dose-dependent manner.The IC50 was 30.26μg/ml.②The inhibitory rates of PV combined respectively with TAX,DDP and VCR were significantly higher than those of TAX,DDP alone(P<0.05),but not significantly different from those with VCR alone.③The results of immunocytochemistry showed that after Raji cells were treated by PV(30 μg/ml)for 48 hours,the expression of survivin was down-regulated,the expression of caspase-3 was up-regulated.Conclusions PV can inhibit the proliferation of Raji cells.The anti-lymphoma mechanisms may be correlated with inducing the apoptosis of cells.The chemotherapy effect can be enhanced by the combination of PV with TAX,DDP.
