Abstract

We found the effects of Portulaca polysaccharide (PP) in normal flora in intestinal tract of mice. The decontaminated (DC) model was induced by oral Lincomycin. The mice were divided into normal, DC, PP treated and Bacillus bifidus praeparatum treated groups. After treatment for 7 days, the mice were sacrificed, and the intestinal flora was measured. Lincomycin decreased Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus in intestinal tract of mice. Plasma endotoxin was increased in the DC model. After treatment for 7 days, the number of Bifidobacterium and Bacteroid in normal, PP treated and Bacillus bifidus praeparatum treated groups were higher than that of DC group. The plasma endotoxin in normal, PP treated and Bacillus bifidus praeparatum treated groups were lower than that of DC group. These results indicate that the treatment with PP or Bacillus bifidus praeparatum prevented the dysbacteria in intestinal tract of the DC mice. The present study demonstrates that the PP is an important microecological modulator.
