Abstract
Preemptive analgesia is one of the analgesia measures which decreases the incidence of hyperalgesia and allodynia by reducing peripheral and central sensitization. Current knowledge of the mechanism of preemptive analgesia, clinical application and drugs are summarized in this review, as well as controversy on preemptive analgesia.
