Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of nursing of pain management pathway on the psychological status and quality of life of patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). Methods A total of 100 patients with PHN were selected as the research objects and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, 50 cases in each group. The patients of the control group were treated with the conventional nursing, while the patients of the observation group were treated with nursing of pain management pathway. The improvements of the visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, the pain rating index (PRI) scores, the sleep disturbance score before and after the treatment and nursing, the clinical therapeutic effects, the incidence of constipation at 7th day, 15th day of treatment, and the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) scores, the self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores, the SF-36 scale scores after the treatment and nursing of the patients of the two groups were evaluated and compared. Results The improvements of the VAS scores, the PRI scores, the sleep disturbance score of the patients in the observation groups were higher than that in the control group. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant (t=3.140, 2.859, 5.067, P<0.05). The clinical efficiency of the patients in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the distribution of therapeutic effects was better than that in the control group. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant (U=2.729, χ2=5.741, P<0.05). At 15th day of the treatment, the incidence of constipation of the patients in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (χ2=5.844 P<0.05). The SAS score and the SDS score after the treatment and nursing of the patients in the observation group were lower than those in the control group. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant (t=10.302, 9.603, P<0.05). The SF-36 scores at all dimensions of the patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant (t=12.211~44.042, P<0.05). Conclusion The application of pain management pathway mode in the nursing care of PHN can improve the therapeutic effects, alleviate the negative emotion of the patients, improve the quality of life of the patients.
