Abstract

Objective To explore nurses' empathy ability on job satisfaction in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Department so as to make the effort to improve the empathy ability and job satisfaction. Methods In October 2018, we selected 63 TCM department nurses at ClassⅡ Grade A and above comprehensive hospitals in Wuhan by convenience sampling to carry out survey by the questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent out in hospitals assisted by Nursing Department with the cross-sectional survey. The survey instruments included the general information questionnaire, Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C (IRI-C) and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) . Results The scores of empathy ability of TCM department nurses in ClassⅢ hospitals were higher than those in ClassⅡ hospitals; the scores of TCM department nurses with formal establishment were higher than those with contract; the differences were all statistical (P 0.05) . Conclusions Empathy ability of TCM department nurses at comprehensive hospitals has correlations with their job satisfaction. Improvement of empathy ability of TCM department nurses can improve their job satisfaction well. Key words: Nurses; Medicine, Chinese traditional; Empathy ability; Job satisfaction
